SURVIVAL MODE
Brother Graham on What to Store before Depression Hits.

Context: Due to the October, 08 financial crisis many people are wondering if things could possibly get much worse. If so, it logically follows that food shortages are possible to some extent, and that always increases the crime rate. Desperate people take desperate measures when they’re hungry. Grocery stores are always the first target, and private homes are next. If you remember the riots in East Los Angeles several years ago, you will know that this kind of thing can happen in America. It wasn’t about food shortages back then, but it could be in the future. Obviously there are a few issues that must be considered: The security of yourself, your home, the food and supplies you want to accumulate; The number of people you want to accumulate food for; The physical condition of the people you want to accumulate food for.
At this point, nobody can say that storing food and supplies for a possible future crisis is necessary or if such an event is probable. It is up to each individual to make that determination and act accordingly. I would not recommend that you purchase and store things you normally wouldn’t eat. If the crisis doesn’t occur in the future, you won’t be stuck with a lot of things you normally wouldn’t consume (and feel foolish for wasting money on your fears). If you are serious about preparing to survive during a possibly not so great future, you need to address your present physical condition as well as the condition of those you are also preparing for. Most people will have a conflict with what they are presently eating and what they should be storing for survival. It won’t necessarily be the same thing. If you’re eating the wrong things now, it doesn’t make sense to continue your errors. So who or what determines the right or wrong things to eat? Your body does! You can choose to eat or not eat whatever you want, but when it’s inside of your body; your body will decide what to do with what you’ve been stuffing yourself with. Look in the mirror; there’s a message for you there. At this point I must say that if you are serious about storing food and supplies for possible survival purposes, and are overweight, you will probably need to empty your garage of cars and such because you’re going to need the storage space. Regardless of what your favorite diet of the month is, here are the scientific facts regarding correct eating practices for good health and nutrition:
Carbohydrates/starches (white toxins), when consumed elevates the hormone INSULIN in your body. Insulin does 4 things: 1. It stores fat in your body. 2. It stores water in your body. 3. It generates hunger pains in your stomach. 4. It creates feelings of fatigue/lethargy/depression. What did your body tell you when you looked in the mirror? Is it a good idea to store carbs in your survival stash? Your body needs some carbohydrates for proper nutrition and this can be had through consuming good kinds of vegetables and fruit. The good kinds are high in minimal digestible and indigestible carbohydrates. They are also high in fiber therefore good for intestinal health. FRUIT: Apples, berries, grapefruit, lemons, mango, oranges, papaya. VEGETABLES: Asparagus, beats, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chilies, cucumbers, garlic, lettuce, onions, spinach, zucchini. Protein/fats, when consumed elevates the hormone GLUCAGONS in your body. Glucagons do 4 things to put your body in its survival mode: 1. It eliminates stored fat in your body. 2. It eliminates stored water in your body. 3. It suppresses hunger pains. 4. It creates energy by using the proteins/fat immediately instead of being stored as fat in the body. When your body needs more energy than you have consumed, it will then use the stored fat in your body (& you lose weight).
Good protein and fat sources are just about any kind of meat and dairy products, with one exception and that is pork. Hogs are fed with a high diet of soy based mush as well as various vegetable oils which are high in carbohydrates, estrogens, and carcinogens which rapidly fatten them up, just like people. Eating pork is the same as eating all the bad things that soy & vegetable oils have in them. The most common vegetable oils do not store well because they are unstable and oxidize quickly (turn rancid), as well as causing other medical problems. The exceptions to this are olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil & palm shortening. If you discount the United States, palm oil is the most popular cooking oil in the world, and most of the world is not plagued by obese people with all the related diseases and other problems associated with obesity. Olive oil is available everywhere, and I recommend “Tropical Traditions” as a source of high quality coconut & palm oils and palm shortening. Consumption of 3 to 6 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil a day will also greatly assist you in losing and maintaining your weight + other benefits, which is very good when you’re in the survival mode.
Fat Phobia is a Cultural Hypnotic! In order to convince you as to the validity of these food storage recommendations I will quote from Dr. Kellock’s book “Champion Guides”: “The prevalent panic over dietary fat is a cultural hypnotic. It make no sense scientifically once one knows the metabolic processes that follow the eating of fat vs. carb. We should be a lot more afraid of being fat but not at all afraid of dietary fat when eating without carbs.”
In order for you to effectively select the kinds of food you should be storing for a possible future survival mode, you must be convinced of the scientific accuracy of living a normal life on a high protein/fat, low carbohydrate diet instead of the popular New Age lies and fairy tales that promote high carbohydrate/ low fat diets. Again, look around you and look in the mirror to decide which direction you want to go. Do you believe in science, or the propaganda of multibillion dollar corporations that are raking in huge fortunes from the gullibility of obese people? I mentioned soy based products being harmful for you, and specifically: 1. It floods the body with isoflavones [acts like estrogen, the female hormone] - Babies on soy formula are getting the equivalent of 5 birth control pills a day – that is child abuse. 2. Has a high amount of phytic acid which blocks the absorption of magnesium, calcium, iron & zinc. 3. Contains two chemical inhibitors which are growth depressant substances. 4. It greatly suppresses testosterone in boys (delays puberty) – the reason many kids are declaring themselves to be homosexuals. 5. It greatly accelerates puberty in girls, especially black girls – some are developing breasts and pubic hair by first grade. 6. A host of other things like: breast cancer in adult women, hyperthyroidism/cancer, vitamin D & B12 deficiency, and high levels of aluminum. I could list more but I’ve made my point: Don’t eat or store anything with soy in it.
Now you should be able to make informed decisions on what you should be eating now, and storing in your “Survival Mode” stash. Canned goods will store for a long time; all kinds of fish, cubed beef from Brazil, etc. Also available are things like freeze dried; vegetables, eggs, cheese, butter, etc. You might think dried veggies are yucky but put together with a can of cubed beef makes a great stew. One thing I like is pickled asparagus from Peru. Stay away from spray-dried items - they have a starch “carrier” ingredient. READ THE LABELS ON EVERYTHING! Stay away from white toxins, soy, steroids, alcohol, tobacco, peanut products (a bean), breakfast cereals, drugs or any food inventions that are being sold as fake food. Soy & peanuts defeat iodine in salt which can lead to gout.
Paleo foods are Fruit, Vegetables, Nuts, & Fauna (animal protein & fat)!
